OPERA FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART
With Opera for the Young at Heart (OFYAH) in retirement communities and senior centers, OFTY reaches outside the scope of our school-based productions to forge new connections across generations. OFYAH performances feature five professional musicians joined on stage by local elementary students who join the cast “on the road” as the opera chorus and in speaking roles.
These performances have proven to be engaging for older adult audiences and also provide an additional opportunity for elementary school students to display what they’ve learned about opera performance. OFYAH performances are scheduled for later in the afternoons and evening and are generally open to the public and/or chorister family members (varies by venue).
